Unlock The Hidden Meaning behind The Resurrection Story
Have you ever wondered why, during the Christian Festival of Easter, Good Friday and Easter Sunday are not fixed dates as are other anniversaries marking births and deaths. At Easter we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. But the feast changes from year to year, falling anywhere from 22nd day of March to the 25th day of April.
Sounds confusing. Why do the dates move? Well, it was even more confusing for Early Christians who knew a connection existed between the Crucifixion and the Jewish Passover but couldn’t reconcile the difference between the Gregorian and the Jewish Calendar.
The Equinox
Step in Roman Emperor Constantine who in 325 AD formed The Council of Nicaea to address the question. This group of Church scholars established that Easter would be celebrated on the first Sunday following the full Moon that occurs on or just after the Spring equinox. Which can happen anytime between 22nd March and 25th April.
